Another big day! Year end evaluations with ECI

This is another big day for Colt.  All of his therapists from ECI will be here today performing their year end evaluations.  This is how they measure his progress and set new goals for next year.

They are starting to arrive now and we’ll hopefully post more updates later.

Hooray today!!

Today we went for 2 Dr visits…
First off was Dr Hamilton – orthopedics
He couldn’t believe how big Colt had gotten, he was very impressed with Colt’s new hands, leg & foot. He took some foam casts of Colt’s feet to get him some new Ponzetie braces to wear at night again – these are the ones that have the bar between them. We had to discontinue these when he had the casts on from Scottish Rite and now they are just too small!
Second up was the swallow study…we were VERY nervous!! But it ended up good!! He can now have little bites of stuff that is crunchy, like crackers, vanilla wafers, cheerios!! He can also do little bites of pudding, yogurt, mashed potatoes or baby food that has been thickened!! We are SO EXCITED about this new step, and we all know that Colt is ready to start eating now!! He will actually be able to eat a little bit of his birthday cake!!
He still has to get his nutrition from the gbutton feedings, but now we get to give a few extras!! We’ll keep you posted & watch for pictures of the new foods he gets to try!!

Colt’s workout

A couple of snippets of Colt doing his workout. We’re working on 2 main areas. Standing up from the stool. Sitting up from a laying position on the floor. With Brittany working a few hours a week now, Pam’s been really working hard with Colt on the sitting up. She makes him do it like 100 times a day. I’m exaggerating of course but she won’t walk by him without saying ” you ready to sit up?” He always gives a nod of approval.
