The last update for tonight.
Pam and I just left Brittany and Colt at Scottish Rite for the night. It’s been a long day and I think letting them have some time to relax is a good thing. Colt had just put on his pajamas and was getting a late feeding. They’ve seen all the doctors, met all the nurses, we’ve seen the playroom, and where the cafe is.
They are scheduled for a 7:30 start but will probably come and get him around 6:45. We’ll get there early to see him before he goes down. They will be working on both his hands, and his left foot too. There’s one toe they will “release” to be more functional. His right leg is where the graft will come from for his hands so they are touching all four corners.
There were a lot of questions from the Anesthesiologist about Colts past and present health. It’s clear from the questions that this is the most vital part of the process and they don’t want any surprises. It’s amazing how much documentation they have about Colt’s history from the day he was born. They knew things that we had long forgotten about. For me at least, it felt good to know that all of that data had been reviewed and considered for his safety.
Brittany is still visibly tense, but I think she’ll be fine. She can be a strong person in these situations and this isn’t her first rodeo. We are all tense, but I think if we felt uncomfortable about anything we wouldn’t have been able to leave them there. Colt was a little shy with some of the Doctors and Nurses but never fussed or cried or balked at anything. He did throw up today, so he’s aware this isn’t a regular visit.
We’ve had a lots of well wishes, and offers of prayer and we appreciate everything. While we’re at it, let’s put some of those thoughts and prayers at Colt’s Great Poppy who’s in Houston right now with his doctors. We’re thinking and praying for them as well.
That’s all I can think of right now. We will post here tomorrow throughout the day but don’t hesitate to call if you want to.
Tomorrow’s a big day.
